As the proverb goes, lying and stealing are next door neighbors. And that's exactly what's happening in the forthcoming Good Liar, starring Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Ian McKellen. McKellen portrays a career criminal who dupes women out of their money by ways of deceit.

1. Liar Liar

Shall we start out with the obvious one? 1997's Liar Liar stars Jim Carrey as an attorney whose lies have caught up with him. His young son has had enough of his dad's empty promises, and uses his birthday wish to set him straight. His wish comes true, and his dad is forced to tell the truth for an entire day. His brutal honesty helps him realize what he's missing out on life.

2. While You Were Sleeping

In 1995's While You Were Sleeping, Sandra Bullock stars as a fare collector at the train station. She spends most of her time daydreaming about a commuter (Peter Gallagher) who passes her each day. When he falls onto the tracks, she risks her life saving him. When his family mistakes her for his fiancée, she doesn't correct them.

3. Never Been Kissed

Drew Barrymore stars as a twentysomething reporter in 1999's Never Been Kissed. She goes undercover as a high school student to get an inside scoop. The second time around for her as a teen isn't much easier. But, she does have a connection with her English teacher (Michael Vartan). He's all confused by his feelings for an adolescent. But, really, as we know, she's not.

4. The Proposal

2009's The Proposal stars Sandra Bullock as a publishing executive, who faces deportation because her visa has expired. She convinces -- actually, she forces -- her assistant (Ryan Reynolds) to go through with a green card marriage so she can stay in the country. Since the aforementioned is illegal, they go through the motions, acting as if they are in love, but are more in detest.

6. The Wedding Date

Debra Messing stars in the 2005 British-American hybrid movie The Wedding Date. She's scheduled to attend her sister's wedding in England. She can't bare the idea of showing up solo and hires herself a fake date (Dermot Mulroney). He's so good at it, that her family falls for their scheme and she ends up falling in love.

7. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

In 2003's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Kate Hudson stars as a writer for a women's magazine. She's been given an assignment, to seek and destroy. Well, not really, but to find a man, get him to fall for her and then completely crush him by annoying him to the point that he just can't be around her. She succeeds professionally, but fails herself.

8. Roxanne

Steve Martin stars in 1987's Roxanne, a retelling of the 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac. Martin's character, Charlie, is sweet on a woman named Roxanne (Daryl Hannah). He can't get up the courage to share his feelings with her, and does so through his coworker. His friend uses Charlie's words to woo her, which gets very messy.

9. The Words

In 2012's The Words, Bradley Cooper plays an aspiring writer. He comes across a manuscript that appears to have been abandoned. He submits it for publishing as his own. This is no little white lie. He is lying to himself, his wife, his publisher, the readers... everyone. Including the true author of this story.

10. Working Girl

There's more than one lie going on in 1988's Working Girl. When Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith) gets an assistant job in NYC, her excitement is short-lived. She accidentally learns her boss (Sigourney Weaver) is actively stealing her ideas and presenting them as her own. When her boss is out on medical leave, Tess takes on her role as an advertising exec.
