Rio Hackford, an experienced actor who made appearances in Treme, American Crime Story, and The Mandalorian, has died at age 51.
His brother Alex Hackford told The Hollywood Reporter that Rio passed Thursday following what is described as a "long, unspecified illness."
Rio Hackford was the eldest son of Taylor Hackford, the director of movies including An Officer and a Gentleman and Dolores Claiborne. His stepmother Helen Mirren – who married Taylor Hackford in 1997 – paid tribute to him on Instagram with a sweet post captioned "El Rio."

Rio Hackford amassed more than 30 screen roles during his acting career, which began with a small uncredited role in the 1990 romantic comedy movie Pretty Woman and ended with an appearance as a manager in this year's Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy.
His other movie credits included Swingers, Sherrybaby and Trumbo. On TV, he played a record store clerk called Toby in 10 episodes of Treme and the investigator Pat McKenna in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. He also contributed motion capture work to the popular Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian.
In addition to his acting work, Hackford found success in the hospitality industry as the co-owner of bars in New Orleans, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He is survived by his wife Elisabeth and their two sons, as well as by his brother, father, and stepmother.
Rest in Peace, Rio Hackford, and thank you for your contribution.
