Anthony Hopkins to Star in 'The Son', Opposite Hugh Jackman

It was previously announced that Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern are teaming up for the forthcoming The Son.

Anthony Hopkins is now set to round out the already stellar cast in place, reports Deadline.

We recently saw Hopkins in the family drama The Father, opposite Olivia Colman, directed by Florian Zeller, which he co-wrote with Christopher Hampton.

Zeller and Hampton are collaborating once again for The Son, with Zeller to direct.

The story revolves around a divorced couple, played by Jackman and Dern. Jackman’s character, Peter, has moved on and now has a new partner and baby with her (Vanessa Kirby). When his ex-wife, Kate (Dern), shows up with their teenage son, Nicholas, things become fraught.

While the mother and son's arrival is unexpected, Peter strives to be a better father and help his troubled son.

Hopkins’ role has yet to be announced.

The film is based on Zeller’s stage play, which may provide a hint at what role Hopkins is set to play.

The Son is in the early stages, with a start date still to come.
