It is with a heavy heart for us to share the news that Betty White has passed away. She was 99 and just about to turn 100 this month.
White died on December 31, with the world hearing of her passing as they were about to ring in the New Year.
While it is a loss, White had an amazing life and a career to match.
Many were introduced to White in the TV series The Golden Girls, which ran from 1985-1992. She portrayed the delightfully naïve Rose Nylund. But, Rose had her moments, revealing that she knew more than she let onto.
She caught the attention of a new generation in the ‘80s, but she had already found a huge following based on her earlier work.
White began her acting career in the 1940s, landing a number of one-off roles in TV series. Her big break was in 1973, starring in The Mary Tyler Moore Show as Sue Ann Nevins. While you may not have seen the series in real time, it’s possible that you saw it in re-run.
From there, she took the lead in a TV series named after her, called The Betty White Show (1997-1998).
You may have also spotted her in the fan favorite series The Love Boat as Betsy Boucher (1980-1985) and Mama’s Family as Ellen Harper Jackson (1983-1986).
Since her early days, White continued to broaden her audience and cross paths with a new generation, starring in 2009’s The Proposal, opposite Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, as Reynolds’ sassy Grandma Annie.
More recently, we also saw her in the sitcom Hot in Cleveland (2010-2015), which celebrated women in their later years.
This is only a sampling of White’s work, as there isn’t enough space to cover all of her successes.
We will end this tribute to one of our favorites with a message from White herself.

We will miss you, Betty. Thank you for all of your hard work and contributions. RIP.
