Call the Midwife has been renewed for another two seasons, meaning it will now run until at least 2026.
Season 13 of the hit drama series about midwives working in London's East End is due to start shooting this Spring. The BBC has now announced that seasons 14 and 15 have officially been ordered, too.
Alongside news of the double recommission, the show's writer-creator Heidi Thomas has revealed that the new seasons will follow the midwives of Nonnatus House convent as they move into a new decade – namely, the 1970s.
"I'm overjoyed by the news that the doors of Nonnatus House will be open for a few more years!" she said. "Call the Midwife is the pride and joy of all who work on it, but it’s our fantastic, loyal audience that matters most. We are a family behind the scenes, on the screen, and in front of the telly, and I’m thrilled that we’re all heading into the 1970s together."
Call the Midwife launched on BBC One in 2012 and airs in the U.S. on PBS. Longtime cast members include Jenny Agutter, Helen George, and Cliff Parisi, while Miranda Hart and Killing Eve's Emerald Fennell have also put in stints on the show.
Are you pleased that Call the Midwife will now run for at least 15 seasons?
