Alan Cumming has signed up to reprise one of his most famous roles: The Good Wife's Eli Gold.
TVLine brings word that Cumming will return to the character in two upcoming episodes of the spin-off series The Good Fight. Gold's daughter Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele) is a main character in the spin-off; Cumming's episodes will see him help her as she steps up to become a fully-fledged lawyer.
Cumming played wily political campaign strategist Eli Gold in 121 episodes of The Good Wife, initially on a recurring basis, and then as a main cast member. At first Gold clashed with Julianna Margulies' title character, a junior litigator and spouse of a disgraced State Attorney, but in time they grew to respect one another.
Since The Good Wife concluded in 2016, he has kept busy with further TV roles in Instinct Briarpatch, and Schmigadoon!. He also played King James in the 2018 Doctor Who episode "The Witchfinders."
