Alexander Skarsgård has joined the cast of Succession in what sounds like a very promising role.

The award-winning actor will play Lukas Matsson, a character Variety describes as a "successful, confrontational tech founder and CEO." It sounds like precisely the kind of part Skarsgård will be able to bring some alpha swagger to.

It's another classy addition to the Swedish actor's résumé, which already includes AMC's John le Carré adaptation The Little Drummer Girl, HBO's True Blood, and CBS All Access's Stephen King adaptation The Stand. He won an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 2018 for his performance as a cruelly abusive husband in Big Little Lies.

Season three of Succession is shooting now in New York City. Skarsgård joins returning cast members including Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Hiam Abbass, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Cox has recently revealed that thanks to showrunner Jesse Armstrong, he is the only cast member who knows what will happen in season three."I nearly fell off my chair because he never tells you about the next series. We never knew from episode to episode what was going to happen," Cox told The Hollywood Reporter. "But then he told me. And it's jolly thrilling. That's all I can say."
