We recently did a write-up on a David Bowie commemorative coin being flown into outer space. And now he'll be honored in another way, with his 1976 cult classic sci-fi movie, The Man Who Fell to Earth, being made into a TV series.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to take on the lead role, with Alex Kurtzman (Clarice) co-writing and directing, reports Deadline. The story follows an alien who arrives to Earth. The description says humanity is at a turning point, and the alien is tasked in determining the future of mankind. That is quite a responsibility...
Apparently the alien himself may have a checkered past, which plays a role in his decision-making.
If you didn't see the original movie, here's a peek at the trailer, which marks Bowie's feature debut:
We've really been enjoying Ejiofor on-screen and are looking forward to more of him.
There's no start date as of yet, but when things do get moving, we can look for the series over at Paramount+.
