Fresh from his success in The Batman, Colin Farrell is definitely keeping busy. The Irish actor has just signed up to star in Sugar, a new sci-fi series that's being billed as "genre-bending."
The series has been ordered by Apple, which announced in a press release that Farrell will also serve as an executive producer. Sugar has been created by Mark Protosevich, writer of the movies I Am Legend and Poseidon, and will be directed by Oscar nominee Fernando Meirelles (The Two Popes, The Constant Gardener).
Meanwhile, X-Men producer Simon Kinberg will also serve as an executive producer on the series, which Apple isn't saying too much else about. We'll just have to wait and see exactly what makes it "genre-bending."
Farrell is also set to star in a spin-off series centered on the Penguin, his villainous character from The Batman. His previous TV projects include The North Water, a survival series available on AMC+, and season two of True Detective. Back in the 1990s, of course, he made his name in the popular BBC drama series Ballykissangel.
