If you love Colin Firth's performances in the Kingsman movies, you'll be intrigued to hear that he's lined up another comic-book role.
The Oscar-winning Brit has signed up to star in New York Will Eat You Alive, an action-comedy film based on the Chinese digital comic Zombie Brother, Deadline reports.
Created by Jia Haibo and launched in 2011, Zombie Brother is a huge deal in China, where it's already spawned an animated TV series and a stage adaptation. The Hollywood adaptation counts Channing Tatum among its producers, who co-starred opposite Firth in 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Alex Rubens (Community, Key and Peele) has written the latest iteration of the script.
“We always wanted to cast this in a way that would give life to the source material and elevate the action and you can’t achieve that goal any better than hiring Colin Firth,” said Adam Fogelson of production company STX Films. “From The King’s Speech to Kingsman, Colin always gives an Oscar-caliber performance. We’re thrilled to be reuniting with him on New York Will Eat You Alive in a role that will allow him to have fun while showcasing his deadpan humor and comic timing.”
In the meantime, you can catch Firth in romantic drama movie Supernova, in which he stars opposite Stanley Tucci. It's due to open November 20 in the U.K. and January 29, 2021 in the U.S. and is already building Oscar buzz.
