Emilia Jones is new to the blog, but she’s not new to the entertainment world. You may know her from her roles in 2021’s CODA as Ruby Rossi and Locke and Key (2020-2022) as Kinsey Locke. She’s now set to take on a new project, signing up for the forthcoming movie Winner, reports ComingSoon.net.
The story revolves around NSA agent Reality Leigh Winner. That is quite a name and she has quite a story, which is heading to the screen. Jones will be stepping into the title role.
Winner’s story is complicated, which is where the official synopsis comes in:
“The film follows Winner (Jones), a brilliant young misfit from Texas who finds her morals challenged while serving in the U.S. Air Force and working as an NSA contractor. It will offer a fresh take on the traditional whistleblower thriller; the coming-of-age story follows an idealistic young woman persecuted for standing by her principles.”
In addition to Jones, you can also look for Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramira, Zach Galifianakis, and Connie Britton.
Director Susanna Fogel shared her thoughts on the project, saying in a statement: “As a filmmaker, I strive to tell stories that interrogate the world we live in and the systems that are broken in it.”
She goes on to talk about approaching the topic at hand, saying, “But in a fun way. Reality Winner is the perfect heroine for a film that meditates on ideas of personal power, morality, and finding your voice.”
Winner is in the early stages and a start date has yet to be announced.
In the meantime, here is a peek at Jones in her breakout role, starring in CODA:
