Casting News: 'Frasier' Actress Jane Leeves is Returning to the World of Sitcom

In the early noughties, Jane Leeves' role as Manchester-born physical therapist Daphne Moon in Frasier made her Britain's best-paid actress. Now, the former "Hill's Angel" from The Benny Hill Show has signed up to star in a new network sitcom.

According to Variety, Leeves has joined the cast of a new ABC comedy pilot co-created by and starring former New Girl actress Hannah Simone.

Inspired by Simone's own family, the sitcom will revolve around Hannah (Simone) and her Indian-American immigrant father, Sid, as they each embark on significant new chapters in their lives. Leaves will play Hannah's mother, a character who is described as "New Age-y with a fondness for crystals and meditation," as well as "a bit batty." Frankly, it sounds like the sort of role Leeves will really smash.

Leeves is currently appearing in medical drama The Resident on the same network. It's being reported that if the sitcom goes to series, she would still be able to appear in "multiple episodes" of her existing show.

After Frasier, she co-starred opposite Betty White, Wendie Malick, and Valerie Bertinelli in the popular TV Land sitcom Hot In Cleveland, which ran for six seasons from 2010-15.
