Gugu Mbatha-Raw is becoming a regular on the blog. You may know her from The Morning Show and Loki. We will be getting more of her on-screen, as she’s completed the forthcoming series Surface, reports Deadline.
Mbatha-Raw is set to portray a woman named Sophie. The story is set in San Francisco, revolving around Sophie, who is recovering from a traumatic head injury. It’s believed her injury is a result of a suicide attempt. But, because of her memory loss, even Sophie doesn’t know what led to this.
The description doesn’t reveal the turn of events leading up to her injury, but with the name of the series being “surface,” we’re guessing it involves water.
Speaking of which, the first look photo shows Sophie lounging on a bench on a waterfront:

The series follows her as she tries to figure out life before and after her injury. According to the description, she’s being told things about her life, but it’s not clear if any of it is true.
Surface is set to premiere in July over at Apple TV+.
