Guy Pearce’s first on-screen role was in the Australian soap Neighbours in 1986. He starred in 455 episodes, ending his run in 1989. From there, we’ve seen him up on the big screen in movies like L.A. Confidential and Memento. In 2021, he made his return to TV, starring in Mare of Easttown, opposite Kate Winslet.
He’s now going full circle, revisiting his role as Mike Young for a surprise return to the long-running soap.
Pearce had a catch-up with Radio Times, talking about what to expect, saying, "Mike moved to Perth and became a teacher there. And you learn through these episodes that Mike has a child, and he and his daughter have moved back to Erinsborough."
He hasn’t spent much time with the new cast members, saying, “’I’ve been seeing these fantastic young actors and thinking it would be great to do some scenes with them – but no, primarily us oldies together!”
He had a chance to reconnect with Henrietta Graham, who not only stars in the series but is also a family friend. The two have done some scenes together, according to Pearce.
