We first saw Ian McShane as Winston in 2014’s John Wick, opposite Keanue Reeves in the title role. There have been two John Wick movies since then, premiering in 2017 and 2019. McShane and Reeves have completed filming on a fourth movie, set to release in 2023.
Now that we’ve covered all things Wick, there’s a spinoff movie in the works, entitled Ballerina, reports ComingSoon.net. Ballerina centers on a female assassin who has one thing on her mind… revenge. Ana de Armas will take the lead, opposite McShane and Reeves.

The ballerina assassins were first introduced in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

And now they're getting their own story. The screenplay comes from Anglo favorite Emerald Fennell (Killing Eve) and Shay Watten, who wrote John Wick: Chapter 2, Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 (that’s a lot of chapters).
We can look for McShane as Winston once again. Winston is the manager for the Continental, a hotel for assassins. Winston and Wick have been in this together for a while now, but it’s not clear whether or not they're friends or foes at this point. They had a bit of a falling out in the last film.
Producer Basil Iwanyk released a statement sharing his excitement about McShane’s casting, saying, “We’re thrilled to have Ian McShane joining us for a pivotal role in Ballerina. He’s been such an integral part of the franchise since the original John Wick. It’s been fun to have him on this journey as the Wick universe expands.”
