Sir Kenneth Branagh has lined up a stellar ensemble cast for his third movie based on an Agatha Christie novel, A Haunting in Venice.
Deadline reports that Jamie Dornan, Killing Eve's Camille Cottin, Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, and Yellowstone's Kelly Reilly have all been cast in the movie, which is based on Christie's novel Hallowe'en Party.
Joining them will be Jude Hill, who co-starred opposite Dornan in Branagh's Oscar-winning movie Belfast, as well as Ali Khan (Red Rose), Emma Laird (Mayor of Kingstown), and Riccardo Scamarico (John Wick: Chapter 2). In addition to directing, Branagh will reprise his role as Christie's iconic Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, which he played in his two previous Christie adaptations, Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.
The movie will begin with Poirot retired and living in Venice, before he is thrust back into the detective life after a guest is murdered at a séance he attends.
Branagh said of the story: "This is a fantastic development of the character Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise. Based on a complex, little-known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences."
