Casting News: Lena Headey Joins Watergate Series 'The White House Plumbers'
Game of Thrones favorite Lena Headey has joined the cast of The White House Plumbers, HBO's upcoming limited series about the Watergate scandal.
The Cersei Lannister actress will portray Dorothy Hunt, a CIA employee and mother-of-four married to E. Howard Hunt, one of the key figures in the political scandal which eventually led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.
She joins a cast that includes Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt, Justin Theroux as the equally integral G. Gordon Liddy, and Domhnall Gleeson as White House Counsel John Dean, Deadline reports.
Created and written by Veep executive producers Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, the series will follow Nixon associates E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy as they inadvertently end his Presidency while trying desperately to protect it. The five-episode series will be based on public records as well as the book Integrity by Egil “Bud” Krogh and Matthew Krogh.
The White House Plumbers will be Headey's first live-action TV role since Game of Thrones drew to a close in 2019. The actress earned five Emmy nominations for her performance as Cersei Lannister in the long-running fantasy series.
