Martin Freeman has been a go-to on Anglophenia for a while now, starring in the fan favorite series Sherlock (2010-2017). Since then, he’s joined the Marvel universe as CIA agent Evertt K. Ross, first appearing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, followed by 2018’s Black Panther.
He’s reprising the role for the forthcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion, reports ComingSoon.net.
The storyline is based off of the 2008 eight-part comic book series, which revolves around the alien race Skrulls planning an Earth takeover. According to the description, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and a Skrull named Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), team up to try and stop the invasion.
In addition to the above actors, you can also look for Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Olivia Colman (Broadchurch).
Clarke shared her excitement about portraying a Marvel character when talking to ComicBook.com, saying, “To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’"
In a recent conversation with Josh Horowitz at NYC’s 92nd Street Y, Jackson talked about starring opposite Colman, saying, “When we started to work, it was so glorious and such a ball. And, not this serious, crazy, deepness. You know, we were just kind of having a good time. She is so amazing. And so effective in a scene.”
The premiere date has yet to be announced, but the series is getting some movement.
