Repeat after me: "Yes, coach!" Michael Fassbender is lined up to play Dutch soccer coach Thomas Rongen in a new movie.

According to Variety, the Oscar-nominated actor is "in final negotiations" to star as Rongen in Next Goal Wins, a dramedy based on the 2015 documentary of the same name.

The acclaimed documentary follows Rongen as he becomes coach of the American Samoa national soccer team, often considered one of the weakest national sides in the world, and steers them through the qualifying rounds of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Rongen, who was named MLS Coach of the Year in 1996, MLS's inaugural season, helped American Samoa to achieve their highest ever world ranking during his time in charge.

The movie adaptation is being directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and its squad of producers includes Andy Serkis.

We don't know if Fassbender will be asked to show off his own soccer skills in the movie, as obviously he's set to play a coach, but we do know he's a soccer fan whose favorite team is England's Liverpool FC.

And we also know he doesn't suffer from a lack of coordination, as he proved on The Graham Norton Show by showing off his breakdancing skills.
