Casting News: Nikki Amuka-Bird to Star in Survival Thriller Movie 'Jericho Ridge'

Torchwood and Doctor Who alum Nikki Amuka-Bird has lined up a lead role in Jericho Ridge, an upcoming movie from writer-director Will Gilbey (A Lonely Place to Die, Plastic).
According to Variety, the film is a survival thriller set in North Washington. Amuka-Bird, also known for her roles in Luther and Avenue 5, will play a county sheriff set upon by a murderous drug cartel while she's alone on duty. It falls on her to save not just her own life, but also that of her son.
The movie's supporting cast includes Being Human's Michael Socha, Industry's Chris Reilly, EastEndersZack Morris, and Boxing Day's Solly McLeod.
"I loved this character from the moment I read the script," Amuka-Bird said in a statement. "Tabby is a powerful and uncompromisingly honest woman – above all, she is a mother willing to do whatever it takes to protect her son. It's an honor to play this challenging, complex lead role and I’m so excited to start shooting alongside such a talented team."
In the meantime, we can catch Amuka-Bird in The Outfit, an upcoming crime thriller starring Mark Rylance that opens in theaters Friday, March 18.
