Doctor Who favorite Peter Davison is traveling back in time to the 1950s for his latest role.

According to Radio Times, the 70-year-old actor has joined the cast of The Larkins, ITV's new adaptation of H. E. Bates' classic novel The Darling Buds of May.

Davison will play the local vicar in the series, which is ITV's second adaptation of Bates' novel following the enormously popular 1991 series The Darling Buds of May, which helped to launch the career of Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Another Doctor Who favorite, Bradley Walsh, is stepping into Sir David Jason's shoes as patriarch Pop Larkin, while Joanna Scanlan (No Offence, The Thick of It), is portraying Ma Larkin, the role made famous by Pam Ferris.

Sabrina Bartlett (Game of Thrones, Bridgerton) is taking on Zeta-Jones' role, that of eldest Larkin daughter Mariette. Meanwhile, Bradley Walsh's son Barney will appear as a local policeman.

Set in rural Kent in the 1950s, The Darling Buds of May follows Ma and Pop Larkin's attempts to provide for their family through various business enterprises that aren't always entirely legitimate. The original 1991 adaptation was characterized by its warm and humorous tone – something Bradley Walsh will certainly be able to bring to The Larkins.
