Casting News: Sandra Oh to Star in Supernatural Horror Movie 'Umma'
Killing Eve star Sandra Oh has signed up to star in Umma, a supernatural horror movie written and directed by Iris K. Shim.
Oh will also executive produce Umma, which is the Korean word for "mother." The plot follows Amanda (Oh) and her daughter as their quiet life living on an American farm is interrupted in a pretty sinister-sounding way. When the remains of Amanda's mother arrive from Korea, Deadline reports, she becomes terrified of turning into her late parent, from whom she was estranged.
The movie's cast also includes Fivel Stewart, Dermot Mulroney, Odeya Rush, MeeWha Alana Lee, and Tom Yi, while Spider-Man and Evil Dead director Sam Raimi is serving as a producer.
Umma will be Oh's first live-action movie role since 2017's Meditation Park, an acclaimed drama exploring gender roles and the immigrant experience. Since 2018 she's starred in BBC America's hit series Killing Eve, winning a Golden Globe award and earning Emmy and BAFTA nominations for her performance as ambitious MI5 agent Eve Polastri.
