Stephen Graham never shies away from a challenging role, and his latest assignment in true crime series The Walk-In sounds especially complex.
British network ITV has announced that Graham will star as Matthew Collins, a reformed Neo-Nazi who now works as a journalist and advocate for the anti-racism organization Hope Not Hate. Graham will also serve as an executive producer on the five-part drama, which tells the true story of how Collins infiltrated a far-right group plotting to murder a British MP (Member of Parliament).
The cast also includes Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Dean Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), and Leanne Best (Cold Feet). ITV says of the series, which is written by Jeff Pope (Stan & Ollie): "The drama focuses upon Collins and his work to stop the radicalization of young white men before it begins. We’ll see him identify a Far Right Neo-Nazi group marking itself out with a youthful clean-cut image, hell-bent on creating race war.
"His modus operandi is to infiltrate such organizations by running moles, or walk-ins, with the goal of publishing information online about their activities to expose and fracture them."
The Walk-In will premiere on ITV in the U.K. in October. There's no word yet on a U.S. release, but you can check out the trailer below. As you'd expect given the nature of the series, it's definitely a tense affair.
