Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham has joined Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu and Winston Duke in the all-star cast of The Fall Guy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waddingham will play a movie producer in the action film based on the classic 1980s TV series about Hollywood stunt performers. In the new movie adaptation, Gosling is playing a washed-up stunt performer who finds himself on a movie set where another performer, played by Taylor-Johnson, has gone missing. It seems safe to presume this will cause Waddingham's character all manner of problems as she desperately tries to hold the project together.
Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is helming the movie, which feels like a perfect fit given that Leitch is a former stunt performer himself. Shooting is taking place now in Australia.
Waddingham won an Emmy Award last year for her performance as soccer club owner Rebecca Welton in the hit sitcom Ted Lasso. Since this breakthrough role, she's booked supporting parts in this year's Hocus Pocus 2 and the upcoming Garfield animated movie. It's very much a case of "onwards and upwards" for Waddingham, who made her name on the London stage before transitioning into TV and movie work.
