Casting News: Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum to Star in Untitled Movie About Afghanistan Evacuation

Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum have jumped on board for an untitled movie about this summer's Afghanistan evacuation.
According to Deadline, the super-topical movie has been devised by George Nolfi, whose screenwriting and directing credits include The Adjustment Bureau and The Banker. Hardy and Tatum will both serve as producers as well as starring in the film.
The movie is said to be based on "recently reported true stories" involving a trio of former special forces operatives who returned to Afghanistan in August to help rescue families and allies left stranded there.
Beyond this, however, the project remains pretty much shrouded in mystery. There are no details, either, on exactly which characters the two actors are playing.
Hardy recently starred in and produced the superhero sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which has grossed $424.9 million globally since opening in October. Earlier this month he finished shooting the action-thriller movie Havoc – directed by Gangs of London creator Gareth Evans – in Wales.
Next up for Tatum is the comedy movie Dog, which he co-directed as well as stars in. It’s due in theaters February 22.
