Casting News: Will Poulter Lands Key Role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.'
Will Poulter is the latest rising star to join the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
According to Deadline, the 28-year-old Brit has landed the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Poulter, known for his roles in Midsommar, The Revenant, and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, is said to have beaten out "several other actors" for the high-profile part.
In Marvel comic book lore, Adam Warlock is created by a group of scientists seeking to make the perfect human being. However, he soon realizes that the scientists want to use him for sinister means, and duly plots his escape.
It was teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that Warlock would be appearing in Vol. 3, but until now fans could only speculate on who might be playing him. Shooting on Vol. 3 is due to start in November with director James Gunn once again calling the shots.
In the meantime, we can catch our next glimpse of Poulter very, very soon. He co-stars opposite Michael Keaton, Peter Saarsgard, and Rosario Dawson in Dopesick, a miniseries exploring the American opioid crisis that premieres tomorrow (October 13) on FX.
He has also been cast in Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, the upcoming Agatha Christie miniseries directed by and co-starring Hugh Laurie.
