Catherine Tate (Doctor Who, The Catherine Tate Show) has signed on for a new project, heading over to Netflix for the prison comedy Hard Cell, reports Deadline.
She will be taking on multiple roles, with the mockumentary series revolving around a prison staff and inmates.
The official description for the series, reads: "Tate plays multiple characters as a documentary crew follows the inmates and staff of HMP Woldsley capturing the penal system at its brutal humorous best."
Tate not only stars in the series, but created it, so we have a good feeling that she knows what she's doing when it comes to casting.
Kristian Smith, an executive producer on the series, said in a statement, "We cannot wait to show audiences on Netflix the inside of HMP Woldsley, our fictional prison occupied by the fantastic creations of Catherine Tate. This series is funny and touching all at once, revealing what life might be like in a British women’s correctional facility."
There's no mention of a start date, but in the meantime, let's time travel back to this moment:
From 2006-2010, Tate starred opposite David Tennant in Doctor Who, as Donna Noble, companion to the Tenth Doctor (Tennant).
Also, this isn't her first time working on a mockumentary, since she guest-starred in The Office (2011-2013).
