Chris O'Dowd and Melissa McCarthy's 'The Starling' Drama Finds a U.S. Home
Chris O'Dowd and Melissa McCarthy are teaming up for the movie The Starling. The two previously worked together on 2011's Bridesmaids and 2014's St. Vincent. The Starling has found a U.S. home and will be premiering on Netflix, reports Deadline.
There's no premiere date just yet, but filming is complete. The story revolves around a married couple, played by O'Dowd and McCarthy. After suffering through a tragedy, they each handle grief in their own way.
O'Dowd's character takes off, leaving his wife at home. She tends to her garden as a source of relief, but her safe place is compromised when an enormous starling takes up residency nearby.
She turns to a psychiatrist-turned-vet for some advice, played by Kevin Kline (Bob's Burgers). We can also look for Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet), but his character has yet to be announced.
The Starling marks a reunion for director Ted Melfi, who worked with O'Dowd and McCarthy on St. Vincent.
While we're still waiting on a first look for The Starling, but in the meantime, here's a peek at the trailer for St. Vincent, which gives us an idea of how these three work together:
