You may know Chris Pine from the Star Trek and Wonder Woman movies. And, now you’re about to see another side of him. Well, to be more exact, he’s going to step to the other side of the camera.
Pine has signed on to direct the forthcoming Poolman, which he also co-wrote with Ian Gotler, reports Empire online.
Not to fret, he will also be on-screen, taking the lead.
The title of the movie could mean just about anything, lending itself to comedy or drama.
But, in this case, it’s a hybrid of mystery and thriller.
Pine is set to take on the role of a man named Darren, who works as a pool cleaner. But, really, he’s a “dreamer” and a “would-be philosopher,” according to the description.
Hmm, why “would-be”? What’s standing in his way? That might be something to philosophize about.
When not working, he spends his time crashing city council meetings with his neighbors, portrayed by Danny DeVito and Annette Bening.
That sounds like a full week in itself – but when he comes across a water heist, involving corrupt city officials, unnamed benefactors and a femme fatale – his life gets a lot busier.
Maybe this is what it will take for him to realize his potential?
We may not know what Darren’s fate is, but it seems like Pine is advancing, moving beyond the responsibilities of his “day job.”
We’re cheering for him and that his first film out of the gate is a success.
