The horror-thriller A Quiet Place premiered in 2018, starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, with the latter also writing and directing the movie. The story revolves around an alien invasion, which leaves survivors silent, as noise is what sets off their otherworldly attackers.
We can look for the sequel, A Quiet Place II, on May 28, as previously announced.
Blunt will reprise her role as a mother of three, who is in search of fellow survivors. Krasinski's character will pop up in flashbacks. With that said, who else can we look for?
Well, how about Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, for one? He's set to take on the role of a man named Emmett, who is a family friend. We can only imagine, living in a post-apocalyptic world, that it's nice to see a familiar face (understatement).
Murphy had a catch-up with The Hollywood Reporter, talking about the new project. He was so enamored with the first film, that he wrote an email to Krasinski. But, alas, he never sent it, according to THR.
Even so, Krasinski was so impressed with Murphy's Peaky Blinders performance, that he in fact reached out to Murphy.
It was meant to be!
With noise setting off the aliens, a lot of the film is shot in silence, relying on body language. Murphy embraced this, saying in the interview, "I did theater for about four or five years, before I ever did any screen work."
He showed up to the set prepared, going on to say, “So, I feel like I’ve done a lot of physical acting, and since I’ve continued to do theater, it was a real sort of liberating experience to get to explore some of that on screen."
He points out that A Quiet Place II is not your typical movie: "And it’s rare enough you get to do that these days because most screen acting is about the close-up nowadays, which is good, but when you get a chance to express yourself non-verbally and physically, that’s really something to enjoy and to relish."
In addition to his early days, Murphy starred in the 2019 stage production Grief Is the Thing with Feathers:
