Daniel Radcliffe will always be synonymous with his breakthrough role in Harry Potter, but he isn't quite ready to step back into the Wizarding World just yet.
In a new interview with the New York Times, the actor said that starring in the film adaptation of JK Rowling and Jack Thorne's hit stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is "not something I'm really interested in doing right now."
"This isn't the answer that anybody's going to want, but I think I was so able to go back and enjoy it because it's not a part of my day-to-day life anymore," Radcliffe added, referring to his participation in HBO Max's recent Harry Potter reunion special. "I'm getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and I'm really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life."
Radcliffe starred as Harry Potter in eight movies released between 2001 and 2011. Since then, he's appeared in a wide range of films including the horror hit The Woman in Black, the heist thriller Now You See Me 2, and the prison drama Escape from Pretoria. You can catch him next in action-comedy movie The Lost City, due in theaters March 25.
Fans will be glad to know, however, that he hasn't ruled out a Harry Potter return further down the line. "I’m never going to say never, but the Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back," Radcliffe said. "For me, it's only been 10. It's not something I’m really interested in doing right now."
