David Tennant and Michael Sheen to Return for Second Season of At-Home Comedy 'Staged'
David Tennant and Michael Sheen are returning for a second season of their at-home comedy series Staged.
According to the BBC, the new season "sees the pair attempt to navigate their ‘new normal’ at home with their increasingly exasperated families whilst simultaneously trying to tackle the world of ‘virtual Hollywood’ and their ever more fragile egos."
Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) is joining the cast for the new season as the two actors' American agent. Tennant and Sheen's season one co-stars Anna Lundberg, Lucy Eaton, Nina Sosanya, and Simon Evans are returning too along with Georgia Tennant, David's wife, who is also one of the show's producers.
Sheen said of the new season: “It’s been so great to see how much people enjoyed the first series. Seemed like the laughs were much appreciated. It made us really excited about taking it further and going in some surprising and hopefully enjoyable directions this time.”
Georgia Tennant added: “The prospect of getting my husband back into employment alongside the divine Ben Schwartz and the hairy, Welsh legend that is Michael Sheen all makes me very happy to be back for series two!”
Season one of Staged aired on BBC One and Hulu this year and featured guest appearances from Dame Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. Premiere dates for season two have yet to be announced, but the BBC has teased that Tennant and Sheen will be joined by "a whole host of unexpected guests."
