Today brings exciting news for Death in Paradise fans: four new cast members are heading to Saint Marie for the upcoming 12th season.
The show broke the news on Twitter, announcing that Jo Martin – who is known to Doctor Who fans as Ruth Clayton a.k.a. the Fugitive Doctor – is "joining us in the sunshine" in the new season.
Derry Girls actress Siobhán McSweeney, Black Sails actor Hakeem Kae-Kazim, and British TV legend Les Dennis (Coronation Street, Family Fortunes) have also been cast in the new season. There's no word yet, however, on the characters they'll be playing.

They'll join Death in Paradise regulars Don Warrington (who plays Commissioner Selwyn Patterson), Ralf Little (DI Neville Parker),  Élizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey), Tahj Miles (Marlon Price), Shantol Jackson (Naomi Thomas), and Ginny Holder (Darlene Curtis) in the new season.
A first-look image of the new season was shared in June, along with news that the cast are also filming the show's first ever festive special.
Executive Producer Tim Key said at the time: "We had been wanting to do a Death in Paradise Christmas special for years and so to be starting production on our second one this year is brilliant. We’ve got a fantastic story which comes loaded with all the mystery, intrigue, and surprise that our fans love to see."
