'Doctor Who’s Day Roundup: The Doctor’s Marvelous Adventure

Merry Christmas! And welcome to this week’s Doctor Who’s Day roundup, a stocking full of Whovian astonishment taken from the last week on the internet and social media.

We begin this week with something very festive and rather special. The YouTuber 3ddoctorwho has been experimenting with claymation, and on Christmas Eve released this clip as Part 1 of what they’re calling “The Marvellous Adventures of Doctor Who,” showing the Doctor and Yaz having fun in the snow:

It’s part of a larger series of adventures, which was trailed back in October with this lovely clip:

Even more remarkably, given the quality of the final result, they also claim to have only ever made those two animations, saying, “This is only my second ever animation you'll probably notice some issues, don't worry, in the future this will be improved. For now, please enjoy and have a safe and merry Christmas and New year.”

Let’s see what else has been going on in space and time this week!

• Let’s hope this plasticine fellow doesn’t interrupt the Doctor’s marvelous adventures:

• There’s a secret future Doctor hidden in a classic episode, according to Steven Moffatt and Russell T Davies, and they should know.

• How are you enjoying BBC America’s Doctor Who Takeover so far?!

• And who’s been missing this face?

Jodie Whittaker on filming “Revolution of the Daleks”. Guaranteed no spoilers!

• Also ahead of “Revolution of the Daleks,” it’s exciting to note that there is already cosplay happening of Thirteen in prison:

• And of course there’s fan art:

• And even fan knitting:

• As if the Who theme wasn’t enormous enough, YouTuber Aaron S. has remixed the theme music to all of the Christmas specials together into one colossal rolling, boiling rollercoaster of a thing:

• Festive carpenters have developed TARDIS fever:

• Fourth Doctor companion Tegan – aka Janet Fielding – was wondering on Twitter what happened to the lay-by in which she first met the Doctor:

• Which prompted this response:

• The Fugitive Doctor, looking very dapper:

• A cute supercut of Who moments that best illustrate the lingering effects of a year of lockdowns and quarantine:

• Twelve and Bill are clearly in the party spirit:

• While Clara and Twelve (and Ten) examine their satsumas:

• It’s always lovely to hear covers of Doctor Who music, and this is no exception. Béla Czövek plays Murray Gold:

• This answers a question that no one was asking, and rather well:

• What about a Dalek alarm clock where the snooze button said “EXTRAMINUTE”?

• Not MORE Daleks! Run away!

• And to see the festive period out with one last glorious singalong, how about this: A supercut of Slade’s “Merry Xmas Everybody,” with all the lyrics delivered by 57 years’ worth of Doctor Who!

TTFN!
