Emma Thompson to Reprise Her 'Men in Black' Role in Upcoming Reboot

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones may not be returning for the upcoming Men in Black reboot, but one key cast member is: Emma Thompson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emma will reprise her role of Agent O, the head of the MIB who first appeared in 2012's Men in Black III, for the fourth movie in the alien-busting franchise.

This latest outing, dubbed MIB, is being described as a reboot rather a sequel to the original trilogy. Not only are Agent J and Agent K out, replaced by Thor: Ragnarok buddies Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, but the action is moving from NYC to London, with a cast that includes Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani and Rafe Spall.

Hmm. Do we detect a Her Majesty's Secret Service/MIB crossover? Maybe it's the opportunity Kumail has always wanted to do a British accent like his hero Hugh Grant.

As for details about who plays what, we'll just have to wait. Filming started this month in London, in preparation for an anticipated release date of June 14, 2019.

In the mean time, one person who's very excited about this casting news is Emma's new co-star Tessa Thompson, who tweeted a link to the news yesterday (July 25) with a "mind blown" emoji:

It's Thompson squared indeed. Or should that be Thompson vs. Thompson? Only time will tell.

Are you excited to see Emma back in charge of the Men in Black?
