Facebook is Making a TV Series Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones

It looks like Facebook is getting into the TV making business. And, they're going big, casting heavy hitter actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) as the lead in the new series Queen America.

The 10-part dark comedy will premiere on the video platform Facebook Watch. The Welsh actress is set to play an American pageant coach named Vicki Ellis, who takes extreme measures to mold young women into Miss America contenders.

The series is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sees Ellis take on an underdog contestant named Samantha Stone. Ellis is just as ruthless as she is renowned, but Stone is desperate. According to the show's description, Ellis is basing her entire reputation on this makeover mission, reports Variety.

Facebook Watch has other series in the works, including the drama SKAM Austin, Loosely Exactly Nicole and a docuseries on NFL player Tom Brady, called Tom vs. Time.

If FB Watch is new to you, here's a handy-dandy video to speed you up on how it works:

We just saw Zeta-Jones as real life Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in the 2017 made-for-TV movie Cocaine Mother. Also in 2017, she starred in the biopic series Feud, as actress Olivia de Havilland. And you can look for her in the film adaptation of the British classic Dad's Army (2016) in the role of Rose Winters.

There's no set release date for Queen America, and the role of Samantha Stone has yet to be filled.

Any thoughts who should play the newbie pageant contender, opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones?
