Daniel Radcliffe made his mark as an actor early on in his career, starring in the Harry Potter movies. He’s also starred on Broadway, proving himself versatile.
These days, it seems he has his pick when it comes to roles, and that’s just what he does… choosing projects that are quite unexpected (Horns, Swiss Army Man).
You can look for him in the forthcoming Weird Al Yankovic biopic, entitled Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which has begun filming, reports ComingSoon.net.
The Roku Channel, where the movie is headed, has released a photo of Radcliffe in character:
Weird Al’s life story getting the biopic treatment definitely falls under the unexpected.
And, it’s not just us. It sounds like Eric Appel, who is set to direct and co-write with Yankovic, was also caught off guard by the suggestion.
The Funny or Die alum said in an interview with Empire, “When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it.”
While reluctant at first, it appears Appel switched gears pretty quickly.
And, we can do the same, get over the surprise factor and look forward to how Radcliffe makes this performance his own.
There's no premiere date just yet, but we just got one step closer, now that filming has begun.
