Doctor Who's Karen Gillan has a new project in the works. She's set to star in the forthcoming action-thriller Gunpowder Milkshake as an assassin named Sam, first announced in January 2019. 

Gillan's character is part of a team of assassins, made-up of Angela Bassett (Avengers: Endgame), Carla Gugino (Manhunt) and Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery).

You can also look for Game of Thrones' Lena Headey as Sam's mother, who is also a killer for hire.

That's a lot of assassins in one space.

In the newly released trailer, we see that Gillan's character is a killer with a conscience. When she realizes there's an eight-year-old girl being held captive by robbers, she goes back to save her:

Sam may have done right by this little girl, but she lost the protection from her firm. She "killed the wrong people" and is now the mark, being hunted by the baddies.

Sam is on her own, and as a last resort, she seeks out her mother for support.

It seems like this may turn into a bonding experience for the mother-daughter duo, with Headey's character saying, "You are an incredibly impressive young woman. There is not a single person on Earth I'd rather kill people with."

Aw, minus the bloodshed, that's really sweet.

Gunpowder Milkshake will be available for streaming over at Netflix on July 14.
