Our first look at Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham, one of Charles Dickens' most iconic characters, is here.
According to Variety, shooting on the new BBC/FX adaptation of Great Expectations is underway now in the South of England. Newly released photos show Colman in Miss Havisham's signature bedraggled wedding dress, which she insists on wearing many years after being jilted at the altar.
One photo shows her looking intently at Pip, the story's orphan hero, who is played in the miniseries by Fionn Whitehead. Another shows her sitting with her daughter Estella, portrayed by Shalom Brune-Franklin.

This new adaptation of Great Expectations has been written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. It counts Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott among its executive producers, and has a supporting cast that includes Owen McDonnell (Niko in BBC America's Killing Eve) and Hayley Squires (Adult Education).
Colman follows in the footsteps of Helena Bonham Carter, Gillian Anderson and Charlotte Rampling in portraying the sad and reclusive Miss Havisham on screen. It's a fascinating role that we can't wait to see Colman put her stamp on.
