Florence Pugh has been on our watch list for a while now, racking up interesting roles. She doesn't have one go-to genre, but she seems to have a penchant for period projects, like AMC's The Little Drummer Girl and the movies Lady Macbeth and Little Women.

Again, she'll be doing some on-screen time-traveling, heading back to 1859 Ireland for the forthcoming feature The Wonder, reports Deadline. 

Based on Emma Donoghue’s 2016 novel by the same name, the story is set in the Irish Midlands. Pugh will take on the role of an English nurse named Lib Wright, who is asked to go to a small village, where a girl has gone without eating for months. She and a nurse are tasked with making sure no one is sneaking food to the girl.

It seem they're trying to determine if this is a miracle or a hoax, but at what cost?

It's not just Wright who has arrived to observe the 11-year-old girl and the unexplainable events, she's joined by tourists and a journalist. This was a time when fasting was related to faith, hence the audience for this young child.

Production is set to begin in August, with cast and crew heading to Ireland. Sebastián Lelio (Disobedience) will direct.

A release date has yet to be announced, but in the meantime you can look for Pugh in 2021's Black Widow as Yelena Belova.
