Game of Thrones actor Conleth Hill is set to star in a four-part adaptation of Graham Norton's debut novel, Holding.

Published in 2016, Holding is set in the fictional village of Duneen in West Cork, the part of Ireland where Norton grew up. It follows a shy local police officer, PJ Collins, as he tries to solve the first high-stakes case of his career: the unexplained death of local hero Tommy Burke.

Hill, known for his role as Varys in Game of Thrones, will star as Collins in an adaptation directed by actor-writer-director Kathy Burke for U.K. network ITV. Shooting is due to take place on location in Ireland this summer.

"I am beyond excited to see the story and characters I created being brought to the screen," Norton said in a press release. "I love how the brilliant creative team have transformed my novel into something so rich and dramatic. West Cork is ready for its close-up!!"

Burke added: "2021 is my 40th year working in the industry and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than directing Holding. It’s a beautiful piece of writing with a great story and fantastic, full bodied characters. All this with glorious West Cork as its setting proved irresistible."
