Brett Goldstein has just won his second Emmy for his performance as Ted Lasso's tough-guy soccer star Roy Kent. Goldstein is also a writer and executive producer on the hit sitcom, which forms part of his surprisingly varied résumé. Here are seven other places you can check out his impressive acting and writing work.
1. He's a Catherine Tate collaborator.
Goldstein has co-written several of Tate's specials featuring her popular "Nan" character, and even appeared in one of them. He also co-wrote this year's The Nan Movie, which follows Tate's potty-mouthed grandmother as she reconnects with her long-lost sister.
2. He co-wrote and starred in his own superhero movie.
Titled SuperBob, it's a comedic and very British take on the genre. Goldstein plays Bob Kenner, a humble London mail delivery guy who becomes the world's first superhero after being hit by a meteorite. You'll laugh at Bob's attempts to overcome a bit of an image problem, but you'll probably find his story quite touching, too. And one of Goldstein's co-stars is none other than... Catherine Tate.
3. He's a Doctor Who guest star.
Goldstein appears in "The Tsuranga Conundrum," a 2018 episode in which Jodie Whittaker's Doctor finds herself aboard a medical spaceship. He plays Astos, the ship's head nurse, who has a rather grisly encounter with a creepy alien creature called the Pting.
4. And it's not his only project with Jodie Whittaker.
Goldstein also starred opposite Whittaker in the poignant British film Adult Life Skills. She plays a woman who has retreated from everyday life following the tragic death of her twin brother; he portrays a rather awkward real estate agent who tries to woo her. Goldstein's sweet performance won him the Best Supporting Actor prize at the British Independent Film Awards.
5. He's also worked with David Hasselhoff.
Yes, really! Goldstein pops up in Hoff the Record, a witty British mockumentary series in which the Baywatch legend plays a fictionalized version of himself, trying to pull off a comeback. Goldstein features in both seasons and also contributed to the writing of the show.
6. He co-created AMC's acclaimed show Soulmates.
This sci-fi anthology series has a super-interesting premise. It's set 15 years in the future and centers on a company called Soul Connex, which has developed a test that can find out exactly who someone is supposed to love – with 100% accuracy. Sarah Snook, Bill Skarsgård, and Kingsley Ben Adir are among the actors who appear in the first season, which you can watch over on AMC+.
7. And finally, he's joined the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
Goldstein makes his debut as Hercules in a post-credits scene from this year's Thor: Love and Thunder. We don't yet know which other Marvel movies or shows he might appear in, but we're definitely excited to find out.
