Music has always been an integral part of the Bond movies, and fans will surely be pleased to hear that the great Hans Zimmer has been hired to score this year's No Time to Die, with Billie Eilish to write and perform the lyrics.

The Oscar-winning German composer follows in the footsteps of Thomas Newman, who scored the last two Bond movies, Spectre and Skyfall, and David Arnold, who scored the previous five.

No Time to Die's director Cary Joji Fukunaga said in a statement shared on Twitter: “I’m beyond excited that Hans is scoring #NoTimeToDie. The music of Bond has always been iconic and I’ve already witnessed Hans adding his touch of genius to the Bond legacy.”

Just today (January 14), it's been confirmed that breakout singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has been hired to write and perform No Time to Die's theme song. At 18, she's the youngest artist ever to sing a Bond theme, and follows in the footsteps of Adele and Sam Smith, who both won Oscars for their efforts.

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way," said Eilish, who has written the theme song with her brother Finneas, with whom she also wrote her Billboard Hot 100 Number-One hit "Mr. Bad Guy." "To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock."

Zimmer's Bond assignment adds to a typically busy 2020 for the prolific composer, who won an Academy Award for his score to the original '90s version of The Lion King. He's also scoring this year's eagerly-anticipated sequels Wonder Woman 1984 and Top Gun: Maverick.

He doesn't have time to waste, though, because No Time to Die is set to open in U.S. theaters on April 8, 2020, five days after its U.K. release. Rami Malek is playing the main villain who’ll cause trouble for Daniel Craig’s Bond, while franchise faves Andrew Scott, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw are all back for the 25th installment.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who co-wrote the script, has recently discussed her "spicy additions" to the franchise – which rumors suggest could include introducing (sort of) the first ever female 007.
