James Corden Chimes In on More 'Gavin and Stacey': 'I Think It Would Be a Shame to Leave It There'

There's been a lot of talk about whether or not we'll be getting more Gavin and Stacey. So much so, it practically rivals the James Bond debate.
Co-creator Ruth Jones and stars of the comedy, Rob Brydon and Larry Lamb, have already weighed in, hoping the 2019 Christmas special will in fact get a follow-up.
While they are all keen on more Gavin and Stacey, it doesn't necessarily confirm concrete plans.
Jones' fellow co-creator and chat show host, James Corden, just might be the last bit of "cement" to make it happen.
Corden had a catch-up with the Radio 2 breakfast show, where he was asked by host Zoe Ball, "I know that whenever your Gavin & Stacey co-stars are interviewed everybody always asks, ‘Will there be more?’ And occasionally you feel like there’s a little carrot, a little possibility. What would you say to that today?" reports RadioTimes.
As of now, there's nothing in the works, according to Corden. Even so, he did give fans a little bit of hope, saying, "But hat’s not to say there isn’t the want, or the inclination to do one, you know?"
He expands on how the 2019 Christmas special came to be and what we can expect: "It’s funny, when we wrote that last special, when we went in to write it, we never really thought whether we’d make another one after it. But then that special ends on such a [cliffhanger], it’s so open."
Corden continued, “I think it would be a shame to leave it there. That’s certainly my feeling, and I think Ruth feels the same."
He and Jones wrote the most recent special without letting anyone know until it was done, to cut down on any expectations. With that said, Corden hints at that being the case again, saying, "And so my hunch is no one will ever know if it’s coming until we’ve got it, but we haven’t had a single conversation about it."
If you're not familiar with the series, let's go back to the beginning, where Gavin and Stacey first meet:
Do you think talking about it will make it happen!?
