Ruth Jones has revived her straight-talking Gavin & Stacey character Nessa for a funny but informative coronavirus message.

Jones' Gavin & Stacey co-creator James Corden shared the "important public message" on Twitter after it was posted by her TV producer husband David Peet.

Nessa begins the message with her signature Barry Island greeting, "What's occurring?," before reminding folks that it's important to stay two meters away from one another to halt the spread of COVID-19.

"Now listen, I'm not here to give you advice, there's plenty of others who will do that for you. It's your life, and I'm not about to tell you how to live it. "I wouldn't do that to no one, I wouldn't even tell myself how to live my life," she says. "But I will say this: if you see me in the morning doing my daily run, my half marathon around Barry, don't even think about breaking that two meter rule. Because if you does, I will not hesitate to tell you quite clearly, to back off."

Nessa then adds: "At the end of the day, when all is said and done, no word of a lie, if truth be told, just because you don't feel ill doesn't mean you're not infectious. You could be riddled. Stay safe, stay out of my way. Oh and protect the NHS obviously, it goes without saying."

Ruth Jones isn't the only British comedy star to revive a popular character for a coronavirus-themed skit. Little Britain's Matt Lucas and David Walliams, Miranda Hart and the cast of Miranda, and David Tennant and Catherine Tate brought back some of their favorite characters for hilarious sketches on BBC One last week.

Last year Corden and Jones brought back Gavin & Stacey, which aired on BBC America during its original three-season run, for a Christmas special that attracted an enormous audience of 18.5 million in the U.K., making it the BBC's most-watched TV program outside of sporting and national events 2002. They've since hinted that they could reunite the cast again to resolve the special's cliffhanger ending.
