Jeremy Bulloch, the English actor best known for playing Boba Fett in the second and third Star Wars movies, has died at age 75.
Bulloch's agent said the actor, also known for his roles in Doctor Who and the classic British movie Summer Holiday, passed away in the hospital Thursday from health complications after living with Parkinson's disease for several years.
"He had a long and happy career spanning more than 45 years," his agent said in a statement sent to the BBC. "He was devoted to his wife, three sons, and 10 grandchildren and they will miss him terribly."
Bulloch portrayed the stern Mandalorian bounty hunter Boba Fett in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back and 1983's Return of the Jedi, and later made a cameo as Captain Colton in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Star Wars creator George Lucas said he had "brought the perfect combination of mystery and menace to his performance of Boba Fett," adding: "Jeremy was a true gentleman who was very supportive of Star Wars and its fans, and I'm very grateful for his contributions to the saga and its legacy."
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill tweeted: "Jeremy Bulloch was the quintessential English gentleman. A fine actor, delightful company & so kind to everyone lucky enough to meet or work with him. I will deeply miss him & am so grateful to have known him."
Bulloch began his acting career as a teenager in 1958 and continued to rack up film and TV credits for around the next five decades. He co-starred in two separate Doctor Who serials: 1965's The Space Museum and 1973's The Time Warrior.
He also co-starred opposite Maureen Lipman in the classic British sitcom Agony, which ran for three seasons from 1979 to 1981. Bulloch and Peter Denyer portrayed a same-sex couple in what is acknowledged as one of British TV's first positive and non-stereotypical depictions of gay men.
He was known as a charming and enthusiastic regular at Star Wars conventions and fan events before announcing his retirement from the convention circuit in 2018. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, and their three sons.
Rest in Peace, Jeremy Bullock, and thank you for your contribution.
