The sci-fi thriller The Matrix first premiered in 1999, with Keanu Reeves in the starring role. We also saw two follow-up movies, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, both released in 2003.

Just this year, the franchise received a reboot, with The Matrix Resurrections currently available for streaming via HBO Max.
Reeves reprises his role as Neo, but his character doesn’t quite know what’s going on. We see him as a video game designer, which is based on his earlier life, but he has no idea that what he’s created actually did happen.
Thankfully, there is someone who does know, enter Jessica Henwick as Bugsy.

While Reeves is still in a lead role, Henwick takes the lead in showing his character, now named Tom Anderson, the truth.
Henwick spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her reaction when first reading the script, saying, “It was crazy! I do remember reading the first page, the second page, the third page, and I was like, “What the…? This is all me! Where is everyone else?!” It was very surprising. Instead of the blue hair, maybe I should’ve had the white hair, but maybe that’s too obvious. Lana [Wachowski] would probably say that’s too obvious.
When she says white hair, she’s referring to a tattoo of a white rabbit that’s seen in the original movie.

Henwick was also called on to do some Matrix-y stunts, like running up the walls, with her describing what it was like: “Yeah, that’s me! That’s me on a wire. It was great! You wouldn’t think it was that cool if you saw all the rehearsals where I just couldn’t get onto the wall and I looked terrible. Wire work is a whole new thing for me, really.”
If you haven’t seen The Matrix Resurrections just yet, it does pay homage to the original films, and also brings us into a new era.
In addition to original cast member Reeves, you can also look for Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity. But, this time around, we first meet her as Tiffany. Like Neo, she has no memory of what happened in years past.
Are you going to go back into The Matrix?
