Jodie Comer, Graham Norton, Russell T Davies, Kate Winslet and Stephen Graham are among the stars celebrating BAFTA TV Awards nominations today.
Davies, who is returning to Doctor Who as showrunner, has been nominated for It's a Sin. His miniseries about the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the U.K, leads the way with 11 nominations. Four of its cast members — Olly Alexander, Lydia West, Omari Douglas, and Callum Scott Howells — pick up acting nominations, while Davies himself is shortlisted for a writing prize.
Comer, already a BAFTA winner for her work on BBC America's Killing Eve, is nominated for her role in Help, a TV movie set in a care home in Liverpool during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Norton is also nominated for his performance in Help, which is available to stream in the U.S. on Acorn TV, and receives a further nomination for his role in the BBC prison drama series Time.
Norton is nominated for the entertainment performance award, which he has already won six times in the past: more than any other performer. The Graham Norton Show is nominated for the comedy entertainment program prize, which it previously won in 2015.
Winslet receives her first-ever nomination at the BAFTA TV Awards for her performance in Mare of Easttown. She has already won Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Awards for her performance in the emotional crime miniseries, so if she wins here, it will be a clean sweep.
Other nominees include Martin Clunes for his performance in Manhunt: The Night Stalker and Hugh Quarshie for his role in Conviction: The Case of Stephen Lawrence. Both series are also available to stream in the U.S. on Acorn TV.
You can check out a full list of nominations on the BBC website. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 8.
