Kate Winslet and her 21-year-old daughter Mia Threapleton are teaming up for an episode of the female-led anthology series I Am...
Their feature-length episode, titled I Am Ruth, will start shooting at the end of this month, according to Channel 4.
Winslet recently won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for her performance in the HBO crime drama Mare of Easttown, but this will be her first live-action role in a British TV series since her 2005 guest appearance on Ricky Gervais' Extras.
Threapleton, the eldest of Winslet's three children, previously appeared in her mother's 2014 movie A Little Chaos. She also has a role in the upcoming Starz miniseries Dangerous Liaisons, an adaptation of the famous Pierre Choderlos de Laclos novel Les Liaisons dangereuses.
The six previous episodes of I Am... have seen writer-creator Dominic Savage team up with leading British actresses Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright, and Lesley Manville for semi-improvised standalone stories. According to Channel 4, "the series of distinctive single films explores the experience of women in moments that are emotionally raw, thought-provoking, and personal."
Winslet said in a statement: "I have always admired Dominic's work and, in particular, his commitment to telling real stories. British television is at an all-time high, and I feel excited and honored to be part of this community, especially right now.”
