Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce starred opposite each other in the 2011 miniseries Mildred Pierce, based on James Cain's 1941 novel, which was originally adapted into a movie in 1945, starring Joan Crawford and Zachary Scott.
We can now look for Winslet and Pearce on-screen together again, in the forthcoming limited series Mare of Easttown, heading to HBO, reports Deadline.
Winslet will take on the title role, as a small-town sleuth named Mare Sheehan. As she investigates a murder, her life begins to unravel.
Pearce is set to portray a creative writing professor, who won a National Book Award for his earlier work. The description says 25 years have passed since his being honored and "he has never lived up to his earlier promise," but it's not quite clear what that promise was.
The details on the series are limited, which leaves us with some questions about this whodunit. Like, who got killed?
Brad Ingelsby (Run All Night) will be the one telling the story, writing every episode and acting as showrunner.
There's no start date as of yet, but we will let you know when there's some movement on this.
Can you picture Kate Winslet as a struggling detective?
